Bio

Martha Jane Byrd Langston was the d/o John Kirk Byrd and Elvira Caroline Moore Byrd. She was born in Detroit, Alabama, just over the Monroe County, Mississippi Line. Not long after she was born, her parents moved to Splunge, Monroe County, Mississippi, about 8 miles away, and the "Welcome To Mississippi" Sign was in their front yard. Martha Jane Byrd and James Francis Furman Langston were married September 28, 1882. Their children were Jettye, Naoma, Mazye, John Bunyan and Troy Elmer Langston, Sr.
