"Seymour Press, Thursday, March 23, 1944. "Joseph Stingle, 76, route 2, Black Creek, a resident of that community since he was a year old, died Sat., March 18, at a Green Bay hospital after a nine-week illness. Born in Austria, June 15, 1867, he was a year old when his parents came to America, settling in the town of Black Creek. Mr. Stingle was a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Mary Church at Black Creek. Survivors are the widow; three daughters, Mrs. Alfred Wolff, Seymour; Mrs. Sylvester Mader, Appleton; Mrs. Maynard Nelson, Black Creek; four sons, Leo at home; Erwin and George, Black Creek; Arthur, Appleton; two brothers, Frank Black Creek; Ed., town of Center; two sisters, Mrs. C. Goldsmith, Green Bay; Mrs. John Felton, Sturgeon Bay; 14 grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning at St. Mary Church, Black Creek with burial in the parish cemetery."
