Dahlkoetter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dahlkoetter, Norfolk, Neb., has arrived on Luzon, in the Philippines and has been assigned to the veteran 32nd Infantry Division. Private Dahlkoetter, who, since induction in August 1944, has been transferred from camp to post to replacement center, will now have a "home" and permanent address with the battle-famed 32nd "Red Arrow" division. Following basic training at Camp Roberts, Calif., Private Dahlkoetter left the United States for overseas duty in February, 1945. Ralph Dahlkoetter, who is now in the Philippines, is now receiving the Stanton Register and sends us his new address so that now the Register will arrive more promptly. We quote from his letter, "There is nothing that I miss more than the Register and haven't received one since leaving my basic training camp." The Norfolk Daily News; Norfolk, Nebraska; Tuesday, May 29, 1945; Front Page Stanton Soldier Killed on Luzon PFC. Ralph Dahlkoetter, son of Mr. and Mrs. William Dahlkoetter, residing near Stanton, was killed in action May 8 while fighting Japanese on Luzon, according to word received here Tuesday morning by the Red Cross chapter. The young man, who was 21 years old, had been overseas two months, and was in the infantry. Surviving are his parents and six brothers and sisters, including Pvt. Alvin, who is somewhere in New Guinea, and Mrs. Gene Palmer, 1405 Norfolk Ave. all spelling and punctuation as it appeared in the paper. (GH)
