Ackley World Journal, Ackley, Iowa, Thursday, 21 Jan 1943, Page 1, Column 1: JAMES C. BATES --------------- James C. Bates, 83, a former resident of Franklin county was buried in Iowa Falls in Union cemetery, Thursday afternoon. Rev. Sours, pastor of the Christian church officiated. Mr. Bates came from Sheffield about a year ago to make his home with his son Maurice. He was born at Arlington, Wis., Nov. 20, 1859, and married Miss Lottie Jessup Jan. 18, 1880.
