Globe Gazette Mason City, Iowa Monday, 24 January 1966 MRS. JESSUP, DOUGHERTY, DIES AT 81 Mrs. W. C. (Claudia) Jessup, 81, Dougherty, died Sunday in a Mason City hospital. She had lived in the Dougherty area since 1918 and in the town of Dougherty since 1928. She was the wife of the retired sexton of St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dougherty. Mrs. Jessup was born July 24, 1884, at Hubbard, the daughter of Celesco and Lottie (Jessup) Bates. She was married to William Jessup Jan. 14, 1903, at Hampton. They moved to a farm near Dougherty. Surviving are her husband, William; five daughters, Gladys Campbell, Dougherty; Mrs. Harold (Dorothy) Mathews, Rochester, Minn.; Mrs. Lewis (Helen) Mullin, Dougherty; Mrs. John (Mildred) McMenimen, Mason City; and Mrs. Donald (Glenita) Moore, Monument, Kan.; 25 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren. A brother, Maurice Bates, Iowa Falls, and a sister, Mrs. Ralph (Marvel) Moore, Nora Springs, also survive. She was preceded in death by four sisters. Mrs. Jessup was a member of the Baptist Church of Sheffield and the Baptist Ladies Aid of the church. Funeral arrangements are incomplete. Visitation at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Funeral Home has been scheduled from 7 p.m. Monday until the time of services. ------------------------ Globe Gazette Mason City, Iowa Tuesday, 25 January 1966 MRS. JESSUP'S FUNERAL IS SET FOR WEDNESDAY The funeral for Mrs. W.C. (Claudia) Jessup, 81, Dougherty, who died Sunday, will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Hogan-McKee Colonial Chapel. The Rev. Paul Miller, pastor of the Evangelical United Brethren Church of Sheffield, will officiate. Pallbearers selected are James Campbell, Ronald Mathews, Patrick and William Campbell, and Tommy and Jack McMenimen. Mrs. John Hugo will be the soloist, Marie Barta, organist. Barbara Sewald and Maryilyn Balek will be in charge of flowers. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at Sheffield.
