Bio

John T Bates was first married to Jemima Rees on Aug 4, 1842. She died in 1853 and was buried on the family farm. There is a newspaper clipping about a groundhog digging up bones from the 4 graves on the farm and carrying them down to a stream where a young boy discovered them. Due to the unusual circumstances, she has no Memorial ID. However, she had 3 daughters: Pheba b about 1843, Mary Elizabeth Bates Hodson (1846-1912), ID # 88717327, and Susanna Jane "Jennie" Bates Baker (1848-1926), ID# 32723208
