Buried next to his wife; No Grave Markers.
Even though he was born in Ohio, most of Simeon McDaniel's life was spent in Seattle. The son of Beuford Francis and Cynthia Catherine (Powell) McDaniel, he was a public school teacher. Simeon McDaniel was a first-cousin, 3 times removed, of a U.S. president as his great-great grandmother, Mrs. Henry (Hannah Bryan) McDaniel, was the aunt of Abraham Lincoln. Besides Ohio and Seattle, Simeon McDaniel had lived in Oklahoma and Idaho for a time, either teaching or farming. Simeon Perry McDaniel died at the age of 84. He was survived by his wife Viola (Donley) McDaniel and his daughter Ruth Morrison of Seattle. Also surviving were his sons, Clifford Charley McDaniel of Elgin, Oregon and Fred McDaniel of Seattle, along with numerous grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Vivian G. McDaniel and a son, Harold Stanley McDaniel. They both died in Ohio as infants or in early childhood. Simeon and Viola McDaniel's second child and eldest son, Roger Bryan McDaniel, ran away from home after an argument with his father. Despite efforts by his family to find him, Bryan McDaniel was, sadly, never heard from again. The mystery of Bryan McDaniel's disappearance was never solved, although until they all died, his family never stopped looking for him. Simeon McDaniel instilled in his children (and hopefully many other students, too) a love of learning and the gift of being able to express themselves well. He would be proud that his son, his son's daughter and her daughters all developed into people who love the written word as much as he did.
