Orville Oscar Ott obituary, Highby-McQuiston Mortuary, March 2004, Aurora, Nebraska as listed at www.higbymortuary.com Orville Ott, age 82, of Aurora, died Thursday morning, March 11, 2004, at Memorial Hospital in Aurora. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M., Monday, March 15th at the First Christian Church in Aurora. Pastor Sam Fox will officiate. Interment will be in the Aurora Cemetery. Orville Oscar Ott, the son of Wilhelm and Elizabeth (Feuerstein) Ott, was born on a farm near Henderson, Nebraska on June 19, 1921 and died in Aurora, Nebraska on March 11, 2004, at the age of 82. He attended school in Nebraska, Oregon and Washington State. Orville entered the military in 1942, serving in the 320th Combat Engineer Battalion, 95th Division. Upon returning from the service he worked for the USDA and then became a manager for General Foods Corp. on the West Coast. Orville was united in marriage to June Sheridan Sutton on May 8, 1951 in Reno, Nevada. They continued to live in Washington State until 1978, when he took early retirement from General Foods. After moving to Aurora he worked at NAPA Auto Parts until he was appointed Hamilton County Commissioner. Orville served on the board for seven years. He then worked for the Hall County Assessor's office until he started 'Ott's Pilot Cars,' which has since grown to four pilot cars. June passed away on December 25, 1998. He was a lifetime musician, having joined the Musician's union in his early 20's. As a sideline to his full-time duties, he played professionally over the years, having performed playing a number of different instruments. He was President of the Musician's Union for 13 years while living in Walla Walla, Washington. Orville had a licensed booking and management agency with the Federation of Musicians in New York working as an agent and manager for road groups and entertainers. He belonged to the Country Music and Gospel Music Association in Nashville for many years. Orville was a member of the First Christian Church in Aurora, the Elks, the Eagles and the American Legion for many years. He was also a member of the Grand Island Saddle Club, The Liederkranz and the Grand Island Circle B Square Dancers. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife. Those left to cherish his memory are his three children, Crystal Ehrart and her husband Al of Scottsbluff, Daniel Ott and his wife Peggy of Lexington, Oklahoma, Jon Ott and his wife Fran of Cooksville, Tennessee and 4 grandchildren, Matthew Taylor, Justin and Tia Ott and Kenneth Ott. He is also survived by a brother, Marvin (Leola) Ott; 3 sisters, Wilma (Robert) O'Brien, Evelyn Maw and DoLores Ellyett and special friend, Marilyn Glover. Contributor: Louis Schleuger (48469498)
