Bio

George was the son of John and Frances (Fanny) Fries, née Jelinek. He was preceded in death by his son, Dennis Gregory Fries, as well as two of his sisters, (Eunice and Naomi,) and one brother. George William was the father of David Eugene, Donald Vance, and Douglas Fries, and brother of Roy Fries of Phoenix, Arizona. His surviving sisters are Alma Fries Dixon of Grand Island, Nebraska, Mildred Fries Schiebe of Broken Bow, Nebraska, and Norma Fries Hochfeuter of Ravena, Nebraska. Following his service in the U.S. Navy, George moved to Nampa, Idaho, where he worked as a baker and raised his family. He found time to coach his sons' baseball teams and join the Eagle Lodge. His first marriage was to Esther Lucille Smith, who died in 1986. In 1989, he married Violet E. Rowland in Nevada.
