Bio

Norma J. Hochreiter, 92, of Ravenna died Monday, October 23, 2017 at her home in Ravenna. A private graveside service will be held at a later date. Norma Jean Hochreiter was born June 21, 1925 in Boelus, Nebraska to John and Francis (Jelinek) Fries. She grew up in Boelus and attended school there. She married John C. Hochreiter on February 6, 1951 at St. Paul, Nebraska. They made their home in Ravenna. She worked at various jobs including, the Ravenna Cheese Plant, The Ordinance Plant in Grand Island, Onion Factory in Grand Island, Lakeview Nursing Home in Grand Island and the Dew Drop Inn in Ravenna. She was baptized as a baby at the Boelus Methodist church and was a member of the United Methodist Church in Ravenna. Survivors include her sons, Earl (Pat) Roberts of Kansas and Jim (Debra) Frederick of Wood River, daughters, Phyllis (Greg) Gunderson of Hastings and Deb Shuller and significant other, Paul O’Connor of Peoria, AZ, five grandsons, two granddaughters, great-grandchildren, Haedyn and Treble of Ravenna and numerous other great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren and brother, Roy Fries of Phoenix, AZ. She was preceded in death by her husband, John C. Hochreiter, her parents, brothers, George and Joe and sisters, Janice, Peg, Margaret and Mildred.
