Mrs. Fries was born Dec. 17, 1921, at Bayard, Colo., where she worked as an aide at St. Anthony Hospital. She married George W. Fries on Nov. 25, 1944, at Denver. They lived in Bayard before moving to Nampa in 1962. She had worked at Mercy Hospital for 12 ½ years and at the Idaho State School and Hospital for nine years before retiring. She was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, St. Ann's Circle, a lecturer for Our Lady of Guadelupe Catholic Church; a member of Southside Grange N. 99, a charter volunteer for the Hospice program and the first volunteer at the Nazareth Retreat House in Boise. She is survived by four sons, Douglas M. Fries of Fairbanks, Alaska, and David E. Fries, Donald V. Fries, and Dennis Fries all of Nampa; her mother, Evelyn C. Smith of Ontario, Ore.; a brother, Kenneth Smith of Ontario; a sister, Doris Burry of Ontario; an aunt, Sybil O'Dea of Payette; six grandchildren, Catherine, Carrie, Patrick, Ann, G.W., and Amy Fries; and several nieces and nephews.
