WISNER — Funeral services for Dolores E. Rief, age 94, of Wisner, will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Wisner. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery in Wisner. Mrs. Rief passed away on Monday, July 23, 2012, at the Wisner Care Center. Dolores Elizabeth Rief was born on Aug. 10, 1917, on the family farm north of North Bend, to Matthew Charles and Ellen Elizabeth (Brennan) Emanuel. She was baptized on Aug. 19, 1917, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, in Ridgley and was confirmed at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. Dolores attended elementary country school at Webster, and in 1935 graduated from Guardian Angels High School in West Point. Dolores was united in marriage to Leo Francis Rief on Feb. 5, 1940, at St. Charles Catholic Church in North Bend. The couple made their home in Oakland, where they owned and operated a restaurant. In 1941, they moved to Wisner, where Leo owned the Wisner Ford dealership for nearly 30 years. While Leo served overseas in the United States Army for two years during WWII, Dolores, Judy and Larry lived with Dolores' family in Fremont. She was a charter member of the Wisner V.F.W. Auxiliary and the Wisner JR. Women's Club. She was a member of St. Joseph's guild and held many offices in that group. Dolores also taught in the church's CCD Program. Leo passed away in May of 1983. Dolores continued to fill her time entertaining the family in her home. She is survived by her daughter, Judy (Bob) Feller, of Wisner; son's, Larry Rief, of North Platte, Mike (Kathy) Rief, of Shelby, Tom (Brenda) Rief, of Seward; 17 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Dolores) Emanuel, of Fremont; sister, Agnes Lewis, of Denver, Colo.; and sister- in- law, Elaine Emanuel, of Fremont. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Leo; brothers, Lawrence and Bill Emanuel; and sister, Catherine Hageman.
