Bio

Fred Clement Worm, 90, Ord, died Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004 at the Valley County Nursing Home in Ord. Mr. Worm was born March 26, 1914 on the family farm in Valley County to William and Ella S. (Clement) Worm. He was preceded in death by his wife Carroll on Dec. 19, 1988. Survivors of his immediate family include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry Worm of Ord, David Worm of Aurora, Colo., and Bruce and Dianne Worm of Ord; a daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and Mark Dingledine of Lincoln; a brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Jean Worm of of Greshem, Ore; a sister, Irene Ingraham of Burwell; and a special friend, Elaine Rice of Palmer. Also surviving 10 grandchildren, Craig Worm, Chad Worm, Laura Worm, Meredith Worm, Amy Stokebrand, Nathan Worm, Luke Dingledine, Matthew Dingledine, Patrick Dingledine and Anthony Dingledine; 5 great-grandchildren Zachary and Emily Worm, Domanic Worm-Chapa, and Cole and Maci Stokebrand. Mr. Worm was raised in Valley County and received his education at the brick school house in Valley County. During the depression he worked on a ranch in Colorado. On March 8, 1941 he married Carroll Resseguie at Yuma, Ariz. the couple lived in San Diego, Calif., where Fred built aircraft during the war years until 1945 when they moved to Omaha. In 1947 they settled in Ord. Fred and his brother Forrest operated FWT Transports out of Burwell. Fred was involved in the trucking for over 50 years. He remained in Ord until his death. He belonged to the Masonic Lodge, and the Presbyterian Church. He was a past member of the Ord Elks Lodge and the Ord Volunteer Fire Department. He had served as a Valley County Supervisor and Deputy Sheriff of Valley County. He enjoyed music festivals, family gatherings, hunting, fishing, and camping. In addition to his wife, Mr. Worm was preceded in death by his parents; his wife Carroll; a daughter, Mary Ellen; two brothers, Forrest Warren and Guy Worm; and three sisters, Ida Spencer, Margaret Spencer and Marie Swindell.
