Published in the Grand Island Independent, Grand Island, Nebraska Ida Spencer, 94, School Teacher and Bookkeeper BROKEN BOW – Ida M. Spencer, 94, of Broken Bow died Monday, Dec. 3, 2001, at Jennie Melham Hospital in Broken Bow. Services will be at 10 am Saturday at St. John's Episcopal Church in Broken Bow. Burial will be in Broken Bow Cemetery. Her body was cremated. Mrs. Spencer was born April 10, 1907, in Ord to William and Ella (Clement) Worm. She grew up in Ord, where she attended school, graduating from Ord High School. She also attended Kearney State Teachers College for two years. In 1931, she moved to Broken Bow. She married Lowell A. Spencer on June 1, 1932, in Merna. She taught school and was also a bookkeeper for many years. She retired in 1981. Her husband died in 1981. Survivors include three sons and daughters-in-law, Howard W. and Carol Spencer of Broken Bow, Dr. Lowell and Clara Spencer of Phoenix and Dr. Berl and Barbara Spencer of Ogallala; 10 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; two brothers, Fred Worm and Clifford Worm of Portland, Ore.; and s sister Irene Ingraham of Burwell. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, Forrest and Guy Worm, and two sisters, Margaret Spencer and Marie Swindell Contributor: Kathy Burr (47226369)
