Thursday, March 10, 1966 Obit for Florence Cornelia Gulledge Heard Mrs. J. L. Heard, 83, of 503 South Fourth Street, passed away Thursday evening in a local hospital. Mrs. Heard was born in Edom, TX but had resided in Crockett since, 1918. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. Survivors include five sons, Alton Heard, Reese Heard, and Royce Heard all of Crockett, Cecil of Baytown and J. L. Heard Jr. of Canton; three daughters, Mrs. Omogene H. Warren, Mrs. Grady L. Straughan and Mrs. Herman Knox all of Crockett; a brother, Clyde Gulledge of Ben Wheeler, TX, sixteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon, March 5 at 2 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with Rev. E. P. Ramsey and Rev. C. H. Lucas officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Memorial Park. Waller Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
