Thursday, June 29, 1967 Obit for Mr. Cecil Gulledge Heard, 66, of Crockett, died Sunday in a local hospital. Mr. Heard lived most of his life in Houston County, moving back to Crockett after retiring as a city employee of Baytown. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and of Masonic Lodge No.21. Funeral services were held at 4 p.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, with Rev. E. P. Ramsey Jr., officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Park, with Masonic Gravesite rites. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Lorene Heard of Crockett; a foster son, Edwin Christian, and a foster daughter, Miss Gayle Christian, both of Sugarland; four brothers, Alton, Reese and Royse Heard, all of Crockett and J. L. Heard Jr. of Canton; three sisters, Mrs. Omagene Warren, Mrs. Grady Straughan and Mrs. Herman Knox, all of Crockett; also several nieces and nephews.
