Bio

J.L.Heard Jr.was born June 15, 1921 in Crockett Tx to Dr. Julius L.Heard and Florrie Gulledge Heard, he was the youngest of eight children. He attended East Texas State University,in Commerce, Texas receiving his B.S. and M.S. degrees. He served in the U.S. Navy in WWII. His first teaching job was in Crockett; He served as school principals in Trinity, Tomball, and Cleveland before moving to Canton in 1956, then retiring in 1985. He married Martha Williams, and they were the parents to six children: Martha Parker, Nancy Tucker, Judy Whatley, J.L.Heard III, Jon Heard and Cary Heard. J.L. Heard was a very well known person in Canton to hundreds of students over his long tenure as principal. He passed away February 23, 2001.
