Bio

Gayle Walker Blackham, Moroni died Sunday, June 17, 2012. Born to Leonard S. Walker and Edith Stagg Walker on August 24, 1927 in Lindon, Utah. Gayle was the tenth of the fifteen children. She graduated from Pleasant Grove High School and attended the University of Utah. After World War II she met her husband Moyle Josiah Blackham from Moroni and they were married in the Manti Temple on Feb 24, 1948. Life was busy in Moroni, with 5 children and doing church work and supporting her husband. She served in the ward and stake Primary, Relief Society, and Young Women organizations. She loved to do temple work and took many other women to the temple for many years. She donated many hours to help Primary Children's Medical Center and the American Cancer Society. She lost Moyle in 1969 and raised her family alone and made sure all her children and their spouses graduated with a college degree. Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren whom she loved to have fun with. She is proceeded in death by her husband, father, mother, brothers, Ray (Marjorie), Henson (Helen), Harold; sisters: Letha (Joe Hansen), LaPreal (Ed Oscarson), Madge (Monroe Tucker), Joan (Joe Hilton), Joyce (Doug Nielsen) Burdene (Bill Shores), and a great grandson, Kayden (Tony & Shana Blackham) She is survived by her brothers, Reed (Mable), Boyd (Barbara), and Royce (Joyce); and sisters Jean (Nick Harris) and Judy(Doyle Pyne); Children Leonard (Laura),Moroni; Gay Kjar (Merwin),Moroni; Pam Turpin (Wayne), South Jordan; Jackee Mower (Scott), Fairview; and Chad (Cathy)Las Vegas; eighteen grandchildren, and twenty four great grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, June 23 at 11 A.M. at the Moroni Stake Center (75North Center) with a viewing prior to services from 9:30 to 10:30 and on Friday, June 22 from 6 to 8 pm at the church. Interment will be in the Moroni city cemetery. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Primary Children's Medical Center.
