Bio

Leonard Mazoch, 98, of Baytown, passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Baytown. He was born January 18, 1914 in Weimar, Texas to his late parents, John and Barbara Mazoch. Mr. Mazoch moved to Baytown in 1937 and was a retired welder from Exxon after 35 years of service. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for 75 years, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Fourth Degree and K. J. T. Society While a member of the Knights of Columbus he served many offices including Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 65 years, Martha Kana Mazoch and brothers and sisters, Nettie Zapalac, Hattie Parick, Ted Mazoch, Albert Mazoch and Bettie Morris. Survivors include his children, Paulette Lawther and her husband Dean of Deer Park, Yvonne Troutman and her husband Ted of Baytown and Lonnie Mazoch and his wife Mary Lynn of Deer Park; grandchildren, Warren Lawther, Jeff Lawther and his wife Ashley, Jessica Cejka and her husband Dusty, Jeremy Troutman, Jennifer Hogan and her husband Conor and Michelle Febbo and her husband Justin; great-grandchildren, Jack, Alexandra, Dane, Trevor, Brylee, Brooklyn and Zoey; brother, John Mazoch and his wife Mary of Orange; sister, Joyce Muckelroy and her husband Robbie of Harper, Texas and numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard was 19 years old when his father died in 1933. He assumed the fatherly role for the family. The Mazoch family would like to extend a special thank you to his longtime caregivers, Lila Chapa and Nan Winans for their love and compassion. Also to the families of Lila and Nan, thank you for allowing them to be so much a part of his life. The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at Navarre Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church with Father Dwight Canizares officiating. Burial will follow at White Cemetery in Highlands. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the St. Joseph's Family Life Center Building Fund, 1907 Carolina Street Baytown, Texas 77520 (281) 420-3588.
