Bio

Ambrose J. "Ham" Uptmor, 81, of Elm Mott, passed away late Friday morning, June 15, 2012 at his residence. A rosary will be recited and Mass of Christian Burial celebrated 10 a.m., Wednesday, at St. Martin's Catholic Church in Tours, with Msgr. Isidore Rozycki as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin's Cemetery near Tours. The family will receive visitors from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Ham was born in Leroy, Texas, to the late Fred Joe and Annie (Schroeder) Uptmor. He attended school in Tours. On August 7, 1954 he was united in marriage to Willie Mae Flaherty in Tours. Ambrose worked for General Tire and Rubber Company in Waco for 36 years before retiring in 1991. He was a faithful member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead. He enjoyed doing yard work, fishing, and going to Louisiana for gambling. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and his coffee group at Dee's Donuts and Ed's Truck Stop. Ambrose is preceded in death by a son, Michael Wayne Uptmor; a grandson, Turner Uptmor; and brothers, Maurice Uptmor and Freddie Uptmor. Survivors include his beloved wife of 57 years, Willie Mae; sons, Paul Uptmor, of Elm Mott, and Leon Uptmor and wife, Tonya, of Lorena; daughter, Brenda Price and husband, Ronnie, of Elm Mott; grandchildren, Tanner, Tate, Emerson, Crystal and husband, Tye, Cari and husband, Clint, Madison and Makayla; great-grandchildren, Hayden, Katye and Allana; brothers, Norman Uptmor, Aubrey Uptmor, Laurel Uptmor, and Billy Uptmor; sisters, Clara Grones, Jancie Altus, and Betty Svrcek; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
