Velma Woodard, 92, of Fairmount, died at 11:55 p.m. Monday (July 19, 2004) at Provena USMC, Logan campus, Danville. Velma was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Montezuma, Ind., the daughter of William and Jeanette Melton Bradford. Velma Woodard Champaign News-Gazette July 22, 2004 FAIRMOUNT - Funeral services for Velma Woodard, 92, of Fairmount will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Carrington Funeral Home, 110 E. Court St., Fairmount. Jarrett Wells will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Catlin. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Woodard died at 11:55 p.m. Monday (July 19, 2004) at Provena United Samaritans Medical Center, Logan Campus, Danville. She was born Dec. 11, 1911, in Montezuma, Ind., a daughter of William and Jeanette Melton Bradford. She married Fred Woodard on May 30, 1929, in Covington, Ind. He died Jan. 8, 1962. Survivors include two sons, Dean Woodard of Fairmount and John Woodard of Tolono; five daughters, Gladys Elsberg and Dorothy Moreman, both of Westville, Zoe Anne Street and Rosie Yeazel, both of Fairmount, and Mary Yeazel of Homer; 26 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, a son, three brother, three sisters and two grandchildren. She was a member of Fairmount Methodist Church and Fairmount Historical Society. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening and crossword puzzles.
