There was a husking bee staged for Floyd Jeffres by his neighbors Monday. Mr. Jeffres has been in poor health for some time. . . . Mr. and Mrs. J. V. Leibli, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Sautter and Albert Workman, of Scotia, Mrs. Kate Applegate , of Wolbach, and Mr. and Mrs. O. P. Anstine and family spent Sunday at the home of Clint Jeffres . Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Jeffres and Mrs. Alfred Beck were auto passengers to Wolback Saturday to visit at the home of Ira(sic) Studley. Mrs. Ora Studley is a cousin of Lynn Jeffres and Mrs. Beck. She has been very ill for the last few years. Mrs. Kate Applegate, who has been taking care of Mrs. Ora Studley, of Wolbach, was on incoming auto passenger Saturday evening to visit at the home of her son, Clint Jeffres, and family. Rev. Maynard Soper of North Loup conducted the services. Burial was in the Scotia cemetery. Pallbearers were Harry Selk, Leonard Murphy, Frank Huebner, Harold Johnson, Harvey Freeman and Greeley Gebhardt. Honorary pallbearers were Otto Gebhardt, Burt Ammer man, Warren Johnson, Harry Beck, Norman Sautter, and Adrian Sweet. The 69 year old man, who re sided in Greeley during the early 30's and later farmed in 'Wallace precinct, died Thursday afternoon in the Ord hospital where he had been taken earlier in the week. His survivors include his wife, Mena; two sons, DeLysle of Scotia: and Don of Ord; three daughters, Mrs. Darlene Everett of Central City, Mrs. Gail WIl son of Elba and Mrs. Carol Williams of Scotia; and four brothers, Earl of of Cheyenne, Royce of Bayard, Lee of Grand Island and Edgar of Council Bluffs. The Scotia Register, Thursday, January 8, 1959, pg 1 (Photo) Floyd Jeffres Dies Thursday Floyd Jeffres, who had been in poor health for a number of years, died at the St. Paul hospital Thursday. Funeral services were held at the Scotia Methodist church Sunday afternoon at 2, conducted by the Rev. Mynor Soper, pastor of the North Loup Seventh Day Baptist church. Mrs. Rolland Essman sang "In the Garden" and "Softly and Tenderly Jesus Is Calling." accompanied by Mrs. M. G. Williams at the organ. Pallbearers were Harry Selk, Leonard Murphy, Frank Huebner, Harold Johnson, Harvey Freeman and Greeley Gebhardt. Honorary pallbearers were Otto Gebhardt, Burt Ammerman, Warren Johnson, Norman Sautter, Adrian Sweet and Evan McBeth. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery, Scotia. The Hastings-Pearson Mortuary was in charge of arrangements. Among those here from out of town were Earl Jeffres, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Edgar Jeffres, Council Bluffs, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jeffres, Harold Miner and Mr. and Mrs. D. E. Watts, Grand Island; Mrs. Nan Miner, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Jeffres, Harold Jeffres and Jesse L. Scott, Greeley; Mr. and Mrs. Tom Jeffres and family, Ainsworth; Mr. and Mrs. Ray Jeffres and family, Columbus; Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Karges and Mrs. Marie Hoellworth, Alblon; Mr. and Mrs. Clark Beck, Mrs. George Jares and Mr. and Mrs. Clifton Hiett, St. Paul; Mr. and Mrs. Carl Lewandowski, Arcadia; and Mr. and Mrs. Bud Williams, Ord; as well as immediate members of the family. Floyd Jeffres, son of Benjamin Perry and Hattie Reed Jeffres, was born Aug. 8, 1889, on a farm near Greeley, Nebr., where he grew to manhood. In 1922 he was united in marriage to Wilhelmena Marie Beck. To this union was born two sons and four daughters, DeLysle of Scotia, Mrs. Clinton Everett of Central City, Mrs. Maurice Johnson of Gaston, Ore., Mrs. Floyd Wilson of Elba, Mrs. Lester Williams of Scotia and Donald Paul of Ord. Floyd was engaged in farming until his health failed and they moved to Greeley where they continued to live until they moved to Scotia in August, 1936, where they have since resided. He departed this life in the St. Paul hospital Jan. 1, 1959, after a lengthy illness of many years. He leaves to morn his passing, besides his wife, his two sons and four daughters, 14 grandchildren, four brothers, Royce of Bayard, Nebr., Earl of Cheyenne, Wyo., Edgar of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Leo of Grand Island, as well as many nieces and nephews. His parents and one sister preceded him in death.
