Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent March 1980 COLUMBUS - Leo S. Jeffres, 85, of Columbus, formerly of Grand Island, died Wednesday at a Columbus nursing home. Services are 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the McKown Funeral Chapel in Columbus with the Rev. Gary Aten officiating. Burial will be Saturday at 11:30 a.m. in Westlawn Cemetery at Grand Island. Mr. Jeffres was born Nov. 14, 1894, at Greeley to Perry and Hattie Reed Jeffres. He married Mabel Baker on Jan. 26, 1915, at Grand Island. They lived in Greeley, Scotia and Grand Island before moving to Columbus two years ago to live with a son and daughter-in-law. Mr. Jeffres was a gold star member of the Eagles and a member of the Grand Island Methodist Church. Survivors include his widow; a son, Ray, of Columbus; two daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Jarnice) Vandwalle of Ravenna and Mrs. Jack (Leone) Rawlings of Longmont, Colo.; six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and other relatives. He was preceded in death by one sister, four brothers and on granddaughter.
