Bio

Mae was born in LeRoy township, Lake county, to Royal Lafayette and Margaret Jane (Hebbert) Winesburg. She married Ervin Phelps on June 17, 1925 at Madison, SD. They farmed until 1949 when they moved to Detroit Lakes, MN and several years later to Fergus Falls. They ran a cafe and pool hall in Fergus Falls for 15 years before retiring. They returned to Madison in 1989. Mae was a member of the LeRoy Township Ladies Club, the Rebecca Lodge, and the First Presbyterian Church.
