Bio

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tues., Nov. 8, for Evelyn Mae Hanneman, 78, Madison, who died Nov. 3, 2005, at Beverly Healthcare Center. The Rev. Robert Goebel will officiate in First Presbyterian Church at Madison, and burial will be in Graceland Cemetery. The family will be present at 7 p.m. Monday at the Weiland Funeral Chapel. Evelyn Phelps was born on March 22, 1927, at Madison to Ervin and Mae (Winesberg) Phelps. She grew up on a farm near Madison and graduated from Eastern Campus School. She attended South Dakota State University for one year. She married Ardell Hanneman on Feb. 18, 1948, at Madison. She worked at Oium's Department Store and the House of Wood. She was a member of the board of trustees at First Presbyterian Church; taught Sunday School and Bible School; and was a member of the Lake-Kingsbury County Red Cross Board. Survivors include her husband, Ardell of Madison; a son, Terry (Nancy) of Madison; a daughter, Debra (Darrell) Gerdes of Ainesworth, Neb.; five grandchildren; and a sister, Carol Hansbereger of Chicago, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Brenda in 1996; a brother, Robert Phelps; and a sister, Beverly.
