Thanks to contributor #47466150 Grand Island (Nebraska) Independent January 1999 Dorothy C. Tarnick, 98, a resident at Park Place Nursing Center, died Saturday, Jan. 9, 1999, at Park Place. Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday at Blessed Sacrament, with the Rev. Don Larmore officiating. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Krakow Cemetery near Genoa. ...Livingston-Sondermann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Tarnick was born on Aug. 16, 1900, in Nance County to John and Mary (Zelasny) Cuba. She received her education in a county school near Krakow. She married John Tarnick on Feb. 3, 1919, in Krakow. Mrs. Tarnick worked as a cook in Fullerton. The couple moved to Grand Island in 1942. She was a cook at the Central Cafe, Martha's Cafe and the Koehler Cafe. She retired in 1970. She was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church and the Altar Society. Survivors include three daughters, Esther Feik of Grand Island, Mary Ann Huebner of Grand Island and Stella Balasa of Fullerton; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; a daughter, Katie Schuyler; a granddaughter, Nancy; and five sisters and seven brothers.
