"I.J.", 76, died at his El Campo home following a lengthy and brave battle with cancer. "Rock," as he was affectionately known during 41 years as an employee and foreman for Transco Pipeline Co. in Texas and Louisiana, was born in El Campo, to John and Mary Kocurek Mazoch. He served in the U.S. Army and Air Force from 1946 to 1948. His membership included St. Philip Catholic Church, Craig-Harriss Post 251 of the American Legion, Knights of Columbus Council 2490 in El Campo and the K.J.T. "I.J." was named for his maternal grandfather, the late Ignac Kocurek, who moved with his wife Emilie to El Campo from Dubina, Texas, in 1890. The Kocureks were El Campo's first family of Czech ancestry and one of the first parishioners of St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church. He and his wife, the former Annie Nedbalek, were married at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Blessing, Texas, on May 14, 1951. I.J. is survived by his wife and six children. Survivors also include brothers, Alfonce Mazoch of El Campo and Joe Mazoch of Cuero; and sisters, Martha Marek and Beatrice Yockey, both of El Campo, and Edith Rachunek of Wharton. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Ricky, in 1973.
