Bio

Son of Henry and Bertha (Geise) Ehlers. In 1886, the Ehlers family came by wagon team to the Chapman Nebraska community where Theodore settled on a homestead. From there he moved to a farm southeast of Grand Island and in 1920, left the farm and moved to Chapman where Theodore purchase a garage and went into business. In 1928, the family moved to a ranch near Burwell, Nebraska, retiring a year later because of poor health. In 1897, in Grand Island, he married Catherine Beckman and they had three children: Henry Ehlers of Keystone, South Dakota, Mrs. John Riss of Rapid City, South Dakota and Mrs. Rudolph Soeth of Chapman, Nebraska. In 1907, Theodore married Lena Beberniss and they had four children: Mrs. Theodore A. Schroeder and Mrs. Harry Schroeder of Grand Island and Mrs. Carl Rogers and Theodore Ehlers, Jr. both of Burwell Nebraska.
