ORD - Duwane LeRoy Wilson, 77, of Ord died Thursday, May 10, 2012, at his home. Mr. Wilson's wishes were to be cremated. A celebration of life will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Ord Christian Church, with Pastor Greg Barnes officiating. Private inurnment will be in the Ord City Cemetery. Ord Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements. Mr. Wilson was born July 7, 1934, at Scott City, Kan., to Clyde H. and Ora Mae (Keatley) Wilson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Beverly; a son, Morrie Wilson. Survivors of the immediate family include his wife, Catherine Wilson of Ord; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Randy and Julie of Ord, Allen and Melinda of Grand Island, Greg and Kris of Sanford, Fla., and Leland of Alliance; three daughters and one son-in-law, Susan and Gary Augustyn, Barbara Veskerna, all of Ord and Deb Fullerton of Thornton, Colo.; 27 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Velda Wilson of Anchorage, Alaska and Jr. and Phyllis Wilson of Beloit, Kan.; and two sisters, Alta Mae Barnason of Red Cloud and Ora Jean and Frank Kovarik of Loup City. He spent his younger years in Scott City and moved to Ord, when he was 10. Duwane received his education at rural country school in the Mira Valley area of Valley County and Ord High School. At the age of 16, Duwane moved to Grand Island where he worked for several years at Wolbach Floor Covering until he returned to Ord to work on the family farm. On Sept. 26, 1954, Duwane was united in marriage to Beverly Pool at Grand Island. The couple moved to Ord in 1961, where Duwane operated the family farm. Later, they settled in Elyria where they raised their family. Duane started his own carpentry business that he operated until his retirement. Beverly passed away on Sept. 28, 1995. Duwane continued to make his home in Ord and married Catherine (Timmerman) Carlsen on July 16, 1998. Duwane would have said that working was his hobby but he also enjoyed camping and boating. He will be remembered for always lending a helping hand to family, friends and neighbors. He was also preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Donna Stewart and a half brother, Alvin Wilkins.
