Donna L. Stewart, 78, of Grand Island died Sunday, May 2, 2010, at her home. Mrs. Stewart was born on March 24, 1932, in Scott City, Kan., to Clyde and Ora (Keatley) Wilson. She was united in marriage to Lyle L. Stewart on Oct. 8, 1950, at Ord. He preceded her in death. Survivors are: sons and daughters-in-law, Keith and Donna Stewart of Grand Island and Kirk and Patty Stewart of Redlands, Calif.; sisters and brothers-in-law, Alta Mae and Jesse Barnason and Ora Jean and Frank Kovarik; and brothers and sisters-in-law, Harold and Velda Wilson, Duwane and Cathy Wilson and Clyde Jr. and Phyllis Wilson; grandsons, Douglas Stewart and Mathew Stewartand a host of friends and relatives Donna's family moved to Ord, when she was a small child. She graduated from Ord High School. Donna and Lyle made their home in Scotia before moving to Fullerton, where Lyle worked on his uncle's farm. They moved to Grand Island in 1951 and then to a farm near Cairo in 1962. In 1985, they returned to Grand Island where they owned and operated Stewart's Pawn Shop until Lyle's death in January of 2002. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Donna loved working in her garden and watching birds feed in her yard. She also enjoyed canning foods and helping her husband on the farm. Donna will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother who always put others before herself. Published in The Grand Island Independent on 5/4/2010
