Bio

Rosenberg Herald, June 2, 1950: Funeral services for Paul F. Sury, age 79, were held from the family residence in Needville at 9 a.m. Sunday morning. Reqiem high mass was said at the St. Michael's Catholic Church, with Rev. Joseph Klobouk officiating. Mr. Sury died at his home suddenly of a heart attack Friday evening. He had been in good health until his sudden death. Mr. Sury was born in Moravia, Europe on July 22, 1871 and came to America with his parents in 1873 at the age of two years. They settled in Fayetteville, Texas. After growing to manhood, he married Miss Katherine Danek in 1897 and they made their home in Fayetteville, Texas for 36 years. After that they moved to Needville where they resided for 41 years. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Katherine Sury; son, Joe Sury of Needville; daughters, Mrs. Lucille Schlitzkus of West Columbia and Mrs. Judith Kenney of Needville; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; sisters, Mrs. Very Novosad of Fayetteville, Mrs. Agnes Matus, Mrs. Mary Novosad, Mrs. Rosie Petter of Fayetteville, and Annie Danek of Wharton; brothers, Henry of Needville and Pete of Clute. One son preceded him in death. Pallbearers were Lad Stavinoha, M.F. Fensik, Raymond Horak, R.J. Barta, Chas. Stavinoha, and Frank Jurca. Interment was made in the Needville Catholic Cemetery, with the Triska Funeral Home in charge.
