Bio

Herald Coaster, January 9, 1964: Funeral services for Louis R. Pratka, 76, were held from the Triska Chapel in Needville Tuesday, Jan. 7, at 9:15 a.m., followed by requiem mass at the St. Michael Catholic Church at 9:30 a.m., with Rev. T.W. Kappe officiating. Mr. Pratka was born Jan. 15 in Dubina. He had made his home in Needville since 1929. He passed away at the Polly Ryon Hospital in Richmond following a short illness. Survivors are his wife, Mrs. Mary Pratka of Needville; four sons, Victor of Patterson, Louisiana, Alfred of Houston, Richard of Tyler, and Lawrence of Vancouver, Washington; two daughters, Mrs. R.J. Hollas of Bryan and Mrs. Bob Ahrens of Houston; 25 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Anna Sassin of Needville; and one brother, Emil Pratka of Schulenburg. Pallbearers were Paul Demel, Matt Mensik, Lad Stavinoha, Ed Buckhorn, Dick Bartel, and Joe Stuckly. Interment was made in the St. Michael Cemetery with the Triska Funeral Home in charge.
