Funeral Mass for Dorothy Elizabeth (Pratka) Tesch, age 86, of Centerville, Texas will be held at 1 pm, Thursday, September 17, 2015 at the St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church in Centerville. Father Matthew Stehling will officiate and burial will follow in the St. Leo the Great Catholic Cemetery east of Centerville. Visitation for Dorothy Tesch will be held at the Walters Funeral Home from 6 pm until 8 pm on Wednesday evening with a Rosary scheduled for 6 pm that same evening. Dorothy was born on October 23, 1928 in Needville, Texas. She lived the last 28 years of her life in Centerville and was a member of the St. Leo the Great Catholic Church. Before retiring to Centerville she had worked as an office supervisor. Dorothy was a writer and had both short stories and poetry published. She was a Board Member of the Southwest Water Supply. She enjoyed gardening, baking and cooking. She was the treasurer of the St. Leo the Great Cemetery. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Louis and Edela (Marak) Pratka; a son, Walter Duke Smithy III; two daughters, Mary Linda (Smithy) Walton and Roberta Kay “Bobbie” (Ahrens) Broussard and several brothers and sisters. Dorothy passed away at the Madison-St. Joseph Healthcare Center in Madisonville, Texas on September 11, 2015. Surviving family members include a son, Louis Henry Ahrens of Centerville; a daughter, Cynthia Adelle (Smithy) Maneely of Centerville; a brother, Larry Pratka of Vancouver, Washington; four grandchildren, Rhett Maneely, Ava Maneely, Jessica Yanze and Phillip Broussard and six great grandchildren, Skyler, Abigale, Kaelyn, Duke, Aerabella and Korynne.
