Bio

Rosenberg Herald, January 10, 1936: On Monday morning, January 6, 1936, at 10 o'clock, occurred the sudden death of Mr. Joe Bacica. A heart attack was attributed to his sudden passing while at work at the home of his son, Dewey Bacica, at Damon. Mr. Bacica was a prominent citizen of Needville. He was an active member of the school board of the Needville School. Mr. Bacica was born on September 18, 1883 at Nelsonville, Texas. In 1904, he married Miss Bertha Zachas at Bellville, and one year later they moved to Waller County where they engaged in farming. In 1912, they moved to Fort Bend County and made their home near Needville. Mr. Bacica served as president of the local S.P.J.S.T. Lodge. Always he was a faithful officer, a good citizen, a faithful husband, and loving father. He was a man of good character and was always willing to help and serve his fellowman. Deceased is survived by his heart-broken widow, Mrs. Bertha Bacica; six sons, Dewey of Damon, Jesse of Trinity, Miles of Houston, Ben Jerry and Woodrow of Needville; one daughter, Miss Dollie; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Baethe of Aus., Mesdames Rosa Batne and Francis Kasparek of Needville; one brother of Nelsonville; and one grandchild; besides a host of other sorrowing relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the home with interment in the Needville Public Cemetery, Rev. J. R. Vilt of Needville officiating in the presence of a large host of friends. Sincere sympathy is extended the bereaved family. The Foerster Funeral Home of Rosenberg had charge of funeral arrangements.
