Mildred "Molly Magee" Cook, 86, of Brawley, died Sunday in her home. Mrs. Cook was born April 30, 1914, in Electra, Texas. She was raised in Electra and attended schools there. She came to the Imperial Valley in 1946 from Amarillo, Texas. She worked as a cook at a University of Southern California fraternity for a season and later cooked at a boys camp. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in Frye Chapel & Mortuary in Brawley. The Rev. Dan Jarrell of Western Avenue Baptist Church in Brawley will officiate. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Brawley. She was a member of the Eagles auxiliary and was past-madam president of that organization. She was preceded in death by her first husband, H.J. Magee, in 1965; daughter, Jimmie Mildred McCarty in 1937; son, Jerry Magee in 1999; and husband, William Cook. Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Florence Magee of Montello, Wisc.; daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Joe Ketner of Brawley; daughter-in-law, Carmen Magee of Westfield, Wisc.; sister-in-law, Vesta Porter of Olney, Texas; 12 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
