Army Service No. (ASN): 38473498 Reburial Rites For Pfc. Moore Slated Friday (Hopkins County Echo, Friday, March 11, 1949, pg. 1) The remains of Pfc. R.D. Moore, former Brashear resident will arrive in Sulphur Springs Thursday for reburial. The deceased was born June 6, 1924, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff D. Moore of Brashear, both of whom survive. He entered the army in February of 1943 and fought with the 5th army, 88th Division, in the Italian campaign. Pfc. Moore received a wound in action in May of 1944, but recovered and joined his outfit again. He was fatally wounded July 15, 1944 while still in Italy. He received the Purple Heart, Good Conduct Medal, and wore the Infantry Combat Badge. Reburial services will be held at the Brashear Baptist Church Friday afternoon at 2:30, with interment in the Pleasant Grove cemetery near Cumby. The services, with full military honors, will be conducted by Rev. Dewitt, of Mt. Vernon. Pallbearers will include Buford Ray Mark, R.L. Green, Bob Alex Williams, William Daniels, W.W. Woodard, and Bill Brand. Survivors include the parents; three sisters, Mrs. Opal Peek, Mrs. Bernice Brand, and Mrs. Velma Vaughn, all of Brashear; and four nephews and three nieces.
