Helen Bays (Sulphur Springs News Telegram, Friday, July 22, 2005, pg. 11A) A graveside service for Helen Bays, 85, of Sulphur Springs will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 23, at Brashear Cemetery with the Rev. David Burns officiating. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, July 22, at Murray-Orwosky Funeral Home. Mrs. Bays died at 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, July 20, at Sulphur Springs Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Brashear, on January 8, 1920, the daughter of Jeff D. and Pearl Anner Millsap Moore. She married Woodrow Brand in Hopkins County on September 25, 1937. He preceded her in death. She married Loyd Bays in Sulphur Springs on September 6, 1979. He preceded her in death. Mrs. Bays was retired, having worked at H.D. Lee and Hopkins County Memorial Hospital. She was a member fo the Brashear Baptist Chruch. Survivors include: two daughters, Mary Strickland of Cumby, Louise Smith of Brashear; three granddaughters, Annette Stinnett, Brenda Willis, Darlene Hammons; four grandsons, Jimmy Smith, Ronnie Strickland, Barry Strickland, Jeff Strickland; 17 great-grandchildren and 18 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother, R.D. Moore and three sisters, Opal Peek, Velma Vaughan and Mae Blackburn. Memorials may be made to Brashear Cemetery Association.
