from the page pictured to the right, William Russell, fourth child of William and Minta (Fowler) Russell, was born 22 January 1824 in Alabama and died 20 Jun 1894 in Farmersville, Texas. On 26 August 1848 in Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee, he was married by John F Morris to Mary Ann Taylor (Franklin County, Tennessee Marriage Book, 1835-1875, p. 102) Mary Ann was born 2 August 1831, Winchester, Franklin County, Tennessee, daughter of Morgan Taylor. She died 12 June 1916 at Kenefick, Oklahoma, in the home of her daughter, Ida (Mrs. Tom Hall). Both are buried in Honaker Cemetery, also called the Twin City Cemetery, about one and one-half miles north-east of Farmersville, Texas. In the Daily Courier Gazette, McKinney, Texas, 11 October 1922, there is a page of ex-confederates who were living in Collin County, in 1890. William Russell is listed in Co K, 4th. Arkansas, Tr. Mississippi Army, living in Vernona, Texas, a small town near Farmersville, Texas. General Services and Administration National Archives and Record Services gives the following: William Russell, Private, age 38 years, enrolled in Capt. Williamson's Company, McNair's regiment of Infantry on 26 October 1861. Mustered in at Fort Smith, Arkansas, assigned to Co. K, 4th Reg't Arkansas Infantry. He was a Primitive Baptist and a farmer. We have a hymn book that belonged to him in which he had written his name in a bold flowing hand. Children: 1. Jane Russell: b. 1849 Franklin County, Tennessee. She was living in the household of her father and mother in 1870. Family tradition is that she died.
