Herald Coaster, April 24, 2000: Funeral services for Bernhardt Tielke, 72, of Rosenberg will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 25 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 1513 West Street in Rosenberg with the Rev. Dale Staggemeier officiating. Burial will follow in the United Church of Christ Cemetery in Needville. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 24 at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Home, 1201 Fourth Street in Rosenberg. Mr. Tielke went to be with his Lord Sunday, April 23, 2000 in Rosenberg. He was born June 22, 1927 in Needville, the son of John and Emma Oberhoff Tielke. He was baptized July 24, 1927 and confirmed April 6, 1941 at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville. He was an avid fisherman who also loved to travel and to play dominoes and cards. He served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He retired from Houston Lighting and Power after 41 years of service. He was a lifetime active member of the United Church of Christ. He was a very loving and caring person. He is survived by his loving wife, LaVerne Tielke of Rosenberg; a son, Kenneth Tielke and his wife Ginny of Richmond; a daughter, Brenda Mahon and her husband Michael of Houston; a son, Thomas Tielke and his wife Suzy of Sugar Land; step-daughters, Yvonne Eixmann and her husband Brad Smith of Wimberly and Renee Stoltenberg and her husband James of Flower Mound; a sister, Olie Eixmann and her husband John of Needville; a brother, Johnnie Tielke and his wife Pearlene of Sugar Land; sisters-in-law, Dora Wilke of San Antonio and Emily Gross of Wallis; 21 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many wonderful nephews, nieces and a host of cousins and friends. He was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie, and his parents, John and Emma Tielke.
