Bio

Fort Bend Herald, August 18, 2024: Olie Eixmann passed peacefully at the SPJST facility in Needville, Texas on August 13, 2024 at the age of 100. Olie was born March 1, 1924 in Modena, Texas which is six miles from Needville, Texas. She was baptized on March 23, 1924 by Rev. J.R. Vilt in the Evangelical & Reformed Church in Needville. She was confirmed on April 10, 1938 by Rev. Fred Anderson. Olie married John C. Eixmann on August 12, 1945 by Rev. William E. Scholze. John and Olie were married for 69 years. In Olie's early years, she chopped cotton, fixed meals for the family, graduated from Modena School after the 8th grade, and worked two years in the Sugar Refinery in Sugar Land. Olie grew many vegetables in her garden. One year she canned 80 quarts of green beans! She always liked to keep learning. She took typing, learned shorthand, learned to sew, and took a cake decorating course. She sewed many quilts by herself and with others in the quilting bee group. During retirement, John and Olie made many, many long trips traveling throughout all of the United States and Canada and part of Mexico. They traveled by pulling a travel trailer and have many picture book albums of their memories. Olie was extremely active in her church. Olie was a member of Immanuel all her life. She played the piano and organ for around 64 years in church, Sunday School, and for the Ladies Aid and Women's Guild organizations. She was a Sunday School teacher for many years and also taught in Vacation Bible School. Olie worked in the church office as secretary for 15 years from 1968-1983 for several different ministers. Olie is preceded in death by her loving husband, John C. Eixmann; her parents, John and Emma Oberhoff Tielke; step-father, R.W. Schroeder; son, Larry Eixmann; brothers, Lonnie Tielke and B. W. Tielke. She is survived by her son, John A. Eixmann and wife, Vickie; daughter-in-law, Lynelle Eixmann. Her grandchildren include Brad Eixmann and wife, Sarah; Chad Eixmann and wife, Kristen; Amber Eixmann; Jill Pulido and husband, Taylor. She is survived by great-grandchildren, Lily, Laura and Everitt Eixmann; Caleb Eixmann; Kyla, Gavin, Seth, and Hunter Trainum; and Tyler and Jacob Leung. She is also survived by her brother, John Tielke and wife, Pearlene; sister-in-law, Jean Eixmann; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends. Pallbearers will be Bradley Eixmann, Chad Eixmann, Thomas Tielke, Tim Teykl, Phil Rosenbaum, and Kenneth Poehls. The family extends a very special thanks to all the staff at SPJST for their continued care and support for the last two years. Also, much appreciation to Houston Hospice during the last few months for their constant monitoring and communication. Visitation and funeral service will be held Monday, August 19, 2024, at Immanuel Evangelical Church, 9018 Church St., Needville, TX 77461. Visitation: 10 - 11 AM and funeral service at 11 AM.
