Note: Al, as he was known to his friends, was the father of Glen, Sharon, Alphonse Thomas, Debra, Mike and Bruce Chilek. Shiner Gazette, September 21, 1972, Thu, Page 6 AL CHILEK Yoakum.—Funeral services for Al Chilek were held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 9, 1972 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Yoakum. Interment was in St. Ann’s Cemetery near Hochheim. A concelebrated Requiem Mass was offered by the Rev. Fathers Emil Vinklarek, Al Padalecki, Hubert Janak, Edward Jansky, John Matocha and Michael O’Shaughnessy. Pallbearers were Wilbert Hagens, Robert Benys, Frank Peters, Gilbert Adamek, Les Balzer, Lee Pargmann, Edwin Tenberg and Raymond Richter. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Buffington Chapel, Yoakum. Alphonse Chilek, 55 years and 15 days, Yoakum farmer, rancher and seed dealer, died at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday, September 6, 1972 in Huth Memorial Hospital following a long illness. He was bom August 21, 1917 at Hochheim, son of Fred and Mary Ann (Vinklarek) Chilek, and was a lifetime resident of the Yoakum area. He was married to Leona Friedel in December 1943. A member of the Knights of Columbus he participated in church and school activities. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Leona Friedel Chilek of Yoakum; four sons, Glen Chilek of Austin, Tommv. Michael and Bruce Chilek, all of Yoakum; two daughters. Mrs. Roland (Sharon) Beausoleil of Hartford, Conn., Miss Debbie Chilek of Yoakum;; one brother, John Chilek of Yoakum; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. (Otillia) Mudd of Yoakum, Mrs. Ben (Agnes) Matocha of Tennessee; and his father, Fred Chilek of Yoakum. He was preceded in death by his mother in June 1951; and infant sister Mary; and brother Joseph, who died in the Philippines during World War II.
