Joseph served as a Corporal, 440th Ordnance Company, Aviation, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He resided in De Witt County, Texas prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Ordnance Department on June 26, 1941, prior to the war, at Fort Sam Houston, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents. He became a POW of the Japanese Army in the "Fall Of The Philippines" in April-May, 1942. Joseph "Died While A POW" of the Japanese Army at a POW Camp in the Philippines during the war.
