Bio
Mrs. John Friedel, of Yoakum, died at 11:50 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 1978, in the Huth Memorial Hospital following a long illness. She reached the age of 91 years, 10 months, and 16 days. Funeral services were held on Saturday, August 5, 1978, at 10 a.m. at St. Ann's Catholic Chruch, near Yoakum. The Rev. Donald Ruppert officiated. Burial was in St. Ann's Catholic Cemetery. Rosary was recited at 7:30 p.m. on Friday at Buffington Chapel, Yoakum. Mrs. Friedel, nee Mollie Erdelt, was born on September 16, 1886, in Lavaca County, daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Kainer) Erdelt, natives of Germany. Surviving are a son, Edmund Friedel Sr. of Yoakum; a daughter, Mrs. Alex A. (Martha) Ward of Yoakum; 12 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, Mrs. Joseph (Rosina Blaschke) Erdelt; a son, George J. Friedel; two brohters, Joseph J. and Louis J. Erdelt; a half-brother, Rudolph Erdelt; and two sisters, Mrs. Friedrich (Rosa) Kram and Mrs. Emil (Emilie) Friedel.
