Bio

Yoakum - George Joe Friedel, former Yoakum resident, died unexpectedly on Monday, February 21, 1972, in Navasota, at the age of 49 years, 5 months, and 2 days. A ranch foreman, Mr. Friedel was born on September 19, 1922, in Yoakum, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Friedel. Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, February 23, 1972, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Yoakum, with burial in St. Ann's Cemetery at Hochheim. Rosary was recited at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel, Yoakum, at 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Margaret Friedel; two sons, Gary and Tim Friedel, and a daughter, Joyce Friedel, all of Waller; his mother, Mrs. John Friedel; a brother, Edmund Friedel, Sr.; and a sister, Mrs. Martha Ward, all of Yoakum.
