Rites in Yoakum for Mrs. E. Friedel Mrs. Emil Friedel, nee Emilie Erdelt, of 115 Davis, Yoakum, died at 7:45 a.m. Wednesday, August 16, 1972 at Huth Memorial Hospital, Yoakum, where she had been a patient for six weeks. She attained the age of 79 years, 2 months and 14 days. The body lay in state at the Buffington Funeral Home, Yoakum, until 9:00 a.m. Friday, August 18 when it was taken to St. Joseph's Catholic Church for Requiem Mass at 10:00 a.m. offered by the Rev. Al Padalecki. Burial was in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Wilfred Ruppert of Edna, Terry Friedel of Victoria, Donald Ruppert, Kenneth Friedel, Benjamin and Franklin Erdelt, all of Yoakum. Rosary was recited at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 18 at the Buffington Chapel. Mrs. Friedel was born June 2, 1893 in the Morris Community near Yoakum, DeWitt County, Texas, daughter of Joseph and Theresa (Kainer) Erdelt, natives of Germany. She was reared on the family farm and attended Morris School. Her parents, four brothers and sisters resided at Breslau in Lavaca County before moving in 1890 to the Yoakum area. When Mrs. Friedel was only a few months old, her mother died. Her father was then married to Rosina Blaschke, native of Germany, who helped rear the five chidren and the son born to her. On October 29, 1915, she was married to Emil Friedel in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Sheehan officiating. The couple established their home in the Morris community and engaged in farming. Two children were born to this marriage union. For the past several years, she resided in Yoakum. Surviving are one son, W. J. "Bill" Friedel of Yoakum; one daughter, Mrs. Herbert E. (Annie) Ruppert of Yoakum; one brother, Joseph J. Erdelt of Yoakum; two sisters, Mrs. Friedrich (Rosa) Kram of Shiner, Mrs. John (Mollie) Friedel of Yoakum; six grandchildren, Wilbert W. Ruppert of Edna, Terry Friedel of Victoria, Donald R. Ruppert, Mrs. William (Joan) Thiele, Kenneth and Delores Friedel, all of Yoakum; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, November 28, 1893; her father, June 11, 1912; her stepmother, September 13, 1914; one brother Louis J. Erdelt, October 6, 1968; one half brother, Rudolph Erdelt, May 21, 1968. Her husband died March 15, 1960. Mrs. Friedel was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, the KJZT Society and St. Joseph's P-TC. May the light of God's love shine 'round and about the bereaved giving assurance of His promise.
