Samuel Simpson, a well known and highly esteemed citizen of Kane, Pa., died at his home in that place Saturday, March 15, 1930, from an attack of apoplexy. Mr. Simpson was born at Scotch Hill, Clarion County, April 15, 1856, the son of James and Rosanna Simpson, pioneer residents of that place. He was the fourth in a family of 15 children. The early part of his life he was engaged in lumbering at Scotch Hill. In 1886 he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie M. Carson, of Strattanville, who survives him with six children, as follows: Mrs. Wayne Snow, Mrs. Orville Scott, Wayne, Hugh and Walter Simpson of Kane, and Glen Simpson, of Detroit. One daughter, Mrs. Claire Moore, preceded him in death. Two brothers, Robert and Benton Simpson, of Scotch Hill, and five sisters, Mrs. Sara Foy, Miss Jennie Simpson, of Scotch Hill; Mrs. Priscilla Beatty of Clarion and Mrs. S. M. Mills and Mrs. Charles Bainbridge of Kane, also survive. In 1906 the deceased and his family moved to Kane where until about two years ago he was employed by the American Window Glass Company. Since that time he has been retired. He was a loyal husband and father and will be missed by a large circle of friends and neighbors. His funeral was held at his late home Tuesday, the services being conducted by the Rev. S. M. Gordon, supply pastor of the First M. E. Church of Kane, and interment was made in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Kane. The following attended the obsequies: Mr. and Mrs. W. M. Moore and daughter Dorothy, Mr. and Mrs. Jay E. Wolff, Mrs. Priscilla Beatty, Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Carson and sons, Russell and Bird Carson, all of Clarion; Mrs. Leonora Jones, Kaylor, and Miss Janet Mills, and the relatives from Scotch Hill named above.
