James was a widower and farmer at the time of death in Farmington Twp., Clarion Co., Pa. His parents, Peter B. and Jennetta Wilson Simpson were both born in Scotland. He succumbed to complications due to influenza and old age. He was buried in this cemetery on June 30, 1907. His son, Samuel Simpson of Kane, Pa was the informant on the death certificate. Source: Certificate of Death, 1907. Pa File No. 57430 ***** James Wilson Simpson was born in Dundee, Scotland, August 20, 1820, came to America with his parents when he was about 4 years old, and settled on land near Scotch Hill. The log cabin made a comfortable home for the family. When he grew to manhood he took up land adjoining the old homestead, where he lived some years. He then bought the property where he has lived during the past 35 years and where he recently died. In 1851 he married Miss Rosanna Elliott, who died in October 1891. Mr. Simpson leaves one brother, one sister, 11 children, 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He joined the Lutheran church when a young man, but he and his wife joined the M.E. church 18 years ago during the pastorate of R. Miller who preached the funeral sermon. Deceased was a hard working, industrious man, a kind husband, a sympathetic father, an obliging neighbor and a true man. Loved by his friends, respected by everyone, he has left an example in word and deed that can be safely followed by all. His end was peaceful and he died the death of the righteous, because he lived the life of the righteous. He has gone to enjoy the sure reward, for such a life. We are sorry to part with such a man but while we have lost he has gained." The Clarion Democrat (PA), Thu, Jul 13, 1907. **********
