Obituary for Pauline Day Bateman The Texas Spur, Spur Services for Pauline Bateman, 87, of Hamlin, and formerly of Afton, were held Wednesday, March 23, 2005 at Afton Baptist Church with Rev. Jeff Sedberry officiating. Burial followed in Afton Cemetery under the direction of Campbell Funeral Home. She died Sunday, March 20, 2005 in Abilene. Mrs. Bateman was born November 28, 1917 in Mt. Pleasant to O.L. and Alice Winkles Day. She moved to Afton with her family at the age of two. She was in the first graduating class at Patton Springs High School. She married Ray Bateman October 10, 1936 in Spur. He preceded her in death October 2, 1988. Mrs. Bateman was a Methodist and a homemaker. She was also president of the Patton Springs Ex-Student Assn. and a member of the Home demonstration club of Dickens for many years. A daughter Nan Bilberry preceded her in death.
