Bio

Bessie was in contact with several of her family members in Wisconsin,,,, and Minnesota. OBITUARY: Bessie Schave Bessie E. Schave, 88, formery of 501 2-1/2 St. N., Sartell, died Friday, January 17, 1997 at the Country Manor Retirement Center in Sartell. Funeral services were Tuesday, January 21, 1997 at Country Manor Chapel in Sartelll. The Rev. Eberhard Schefers and Deacon Ken Bates officiated. Burial was in St. Francis Xavier Parish Cemetery, Sartell. Arrangements were made by Daniel Funeral Home, St. Cloud. Bessie E. Schave was born May 29, 1908 in Linn County, Iowa, to Martin and Lena (Croghan) McLaughlin. The family moved to Rice in 1922. She married Frank Wojtanowitz Aug. 12, 1924; he died in 1969. She married Walter H. Schave Nov. 6, 1978, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Sartell. She had been a resident of Country Manor for the past 13 years and was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church and St. Monica's Christian Women. Survivors include her stepchildren, Walter and Donald, Sartell; Marie McKenzie, Irving, Texas; Marla Lahr, St. Cloud; 12 step-grandchildren; and 14 step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Frank; second husband, Walter (June 17, 1991); five brothers and four sisters. Pallbearers were Karen Synder, Michelle Johnson, Carrie Pierskalla, David, Tom and Jon Schave. Published in The Sauk Rapids Herald, Wednesday, January 22, 1997 pg. 4. NOTE: Bessie was cremated and her ashes were buried 28 May 1997 next to her first husband, Frank Wojtanowicz according to church cemetery records.
