Schave, 88, Country Manor Health Care & Retirement Center, Sartell, passed away Monday, June 17, 1991 at the home. He was a former resident of 501 - 2-1/2 Street North, Sartell. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday from the Riverside Presbyterian Church, Sartell. The Rev. Robert Springer officiated with burial held in the Benton County Cemetery. Walter Schave was born January 16, 1903 in Sauk Rapids to Fred and Amelia (Kowitz) Schave. He married Mary Schere September 28, 1928 in St. Cloud. She died March 27, 1970. He married Bessie Wojtanowicz November 6, 1978 in St. Francis Xavier Church, Sartell. He lived in Sauk Rapids until 1936 when he moved to Sartell where he was a pipe fitter for St. Regis Paper Mill until retiring in 1967. He was a member of Riverside Presbyterian Church and Pulp and Sulfide Union Local 274. Survivors include his wife; sons and daughters Walter J. and Donald E., Sartell; Mrs. Clarence (Marie) McKenzie, Popple Creek; Mrs. Leo (Marla) Lahr, St. Cloud; brothers, Herman, Hoquim, Washington; Edward, Underwood, North Dakota; 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; infant daughter, Norma; infant son, Robert; brothers, Arthur and Henry; and a sister, Frieda Ayers. Pall bearers were grandchildren, Scott, Jody, Brian, David, Michelle and Carrie Schave. Published in The Sauk Rapids Herald Wednesday, June 19, 1991.
